Yeah, then why did they let this guy on?
I hate you DJ.
The course is an absolute beast. It is soaking wet(even worse now I imagine), and incredibly hilly. That really won’t come through on T.V. Holes like 2,4,5, 15 and 18 feature incredibly uphill shots to the green. It was fun watching guys come up short on Monday three times in a row.
The gallery for Sergio was much smaller but remained pretty positive. He also played with his Spanish friend GFC.
This guy told Sergio he was hitting a “cinco” wood on 18.
A few groups earlier Andrew Svoboda rolled through. Apparently he is good at golf and very popular. Before he showed up on 14:
Not quite sure how good this Tiger character is, but he was certainly focused for 7:30am on a Tuesday.
I was less than 3 feet from this guy, which was pretty scary considering I was holding a camera.
Besides Svoboda, other stars showed up on Tuesday:
And then there was Justin Rose. He sucked. He was literally 0-3 on hitting the green from the 5th fairway.
Vijay was pretty popular in the afternoon on Tuesday when he teed off one.
But the group behind him was way better.
Casey and Quiros had a pretty serious match going on Tuesday. Casey was down a few and hit one close here on 8.
Quiros then hit it closer, and habla-ed “somebody’s closer” in espanol.
Anthony Kim showed up for his early tee time at approximately 4:30 eastern. It took him one drive to shake off the hangover. Luckly it was a practice round and the second one was better.
On Wednesday Phil made his return to Bethpage.
He was followed by a lot of idiots. It was a solid group with Leonard and Furyk too.
Funny story. Someone came to this site over the past few days with the google search, “johnnie miller oakmont 63.” How much do you want to bet it was this guy?
The real story of the day was Jeev had a great practice round:
All in all it was a good time, and I can’t wait until this guy hoist the trophy on
Sunday Monday Tuesday.
There should be a live blog/frequently updated post up and running tomorrow morning.
